Just heard from my car show expert and he told me that it's not a very good show (Crusin 99) and I would be lucky to make my money back. Nice idea, but I'm not doing it. They have another car event the following weekend also. So, we are back to square one on this one. Whatever he tells me is the gospel truth.

Glad that I have a prior show booked now.

Decided not to take the 440-mile round trip up there to check out the show. Wife feeling under the weather and we need to have her in good shape for our show (Casa de Fruta) this weekend. Need her to keep my awake or tend to the customer(s) while I am dozing off. I am still considering doing it next year and will just have to go on word of mouth and will just have to take people's word on it that they made $4,000 there? Hmm. Anyway, I checked 'Yelp' and here is what I found as far as reviews go. However, we all know that there is NOTHING LIKE A STARVING VENDOR'S REVIEW. One has to take in mind that the reviews in Yelp are from a visitor's perspective AND mostly everybody enjoys these festivals and has no idea what each and every vendor has to go through. So, go ahead and click on it and check it over the next few day's to see if anybody else has spoken. Right now, there are only 3 reviews from Sep 3 and I hope more after the holiday. I really would have loved to try some ribs there, but...oh well. www.yelp.com/biz/best-in-the-west-nugget-rib-cook-off-sparks

I signed up for the Candy Festival and got a notice that it got bumped to May. Not sure why you would do candy in may but oh well. I did really well at the Tomato Fest but I am not sure if I will do it. I made the really high booth fee back and then some.

I have the last two weekends in October open. Any ideas? I know that I will have to travel whereever I decide to book. Where are all of you going to be?

Can you believe that I am actually considering doing Bass Lake. Please help me find something else on the weekend of Oct 30-Nov 1. Don't want to sit at home when this could be one of the last weekends of good weather we'll have.
Don't want to bring the motor home for this one, so I'll take the van (if we go). I checked motels and looks like I can get Days Inn for $78 a night. I looked for something with Checkin Card and nothing came up. (BTW I just found my old card which I had lost... but got new card(s) for my wife and I.)
Booth space is $200 plus $230 for motel plus $50 for gas. That comes to $480 right off the top, so I have to make around $600 just before showing any kind of profit. Not really worth it. With this economy the way it is, I doubt if I can hit 8-900 for three days there. I don't think it's worth it for just $200-300 net profit.
Help me out and find a show. I'm waiting to see if someting pops up.

Dave... if you have not booked anything for the weekend of October 10/11, I'm doing the Alma Heights Christian Academy Market in Pacifica on Saturday October 10th... unfortunately it is a 1 day event. I have ALWAYS done well there, but it can be a "hit or miss" event for some vendors depending on the unpredictable Pacifica Fog/Drizzle. RiverBank is just too pricey for a low income area I think...

How much? Give me some details. I'll think about it. How big of a crowd do they get for this? Certainly looks like it's not a bunch of tire kickers coming. Thanks.

Okay Rick. Went to their website and got the application. Probably send it in this afternoon. How many vendors do these people have? Is this once a month or what? UPDATE: signed, sealed, mailed. Wow 12x33 spaces? See you guys there.

Dave... the event is twice a year... once in spring & once in fall. The booth fees are really reasonable.I did not due the event last fall because of bad weather & it conflicted with PumpkinFest event where I kicked-butt bigtime !. Two vendor friends of mine did the event though & both did well over $1,000 each for the event. The fall event has ALWAYS been better for me than the spring event. Pacifica is a solid middle class crowd with money to spend. Again, the only down side is that crappy Pacifica weather... if the weather is anything like we had for FOGFEST, we'll be ok. If its cold, foggy, & ugly, not as many people show up & it can be a long day. All in all, its a lot safer bet than trucking out to RiverBank/JerrySpringerVille & its a lot closer to home. In the past there have been maybe 100-120 vendors but I don't know how many they have now... probably fewer vendors now with the economy etc. Crowds vary according to the weather... slow in morning & picks up noonish to afternoon when the weather warms up.
