traveller, i am glad you are doing well on south dakota state fair. anyone doing any other state fair? North Dakota? Minesota? anyone :)HI everyone. I just got back from the South Dakota State Fair. I would have to say that it was SUCCESSFUL!!! My space was THE best in the building and my neighbors were superb!!! The weather was good for 4 of the 5 days, and let us have it on Monday, the last day of the show, but the urgency to get that item on the last day outweighed the urge to go home and watch the rain from the house. I heard that this is one of the biggest events in the state that everyone looks forward to. 1250+ camp sites on the show grounds and 90% of the people have stayed at the fair for EVERY YEAR SINCE BIRTH as ...the... THE... ~~T.H.E.~~ thing to do for the year. People still were quite frugal, but looked towards Christmas shopping. They did buy trinkets and little items but they were pulling money out. I had NUMEROUS large bills brought in to this venue. I will DEFINITELY try to do this show again next year.... Well.... Unless I am picked for Minnesota which overlaps. (Fat chance!! 5+ year wait on that one!)

I am on the dreaded "waiting list" for ND state in Minot, and the 5+ year waiting list for MN. and IA. I could have gotten into Payallup Wa. state fair which I heard is good but at $3,000.00 for a space, and $27.00 a day for RV space.... I kind of balked..... I AM in at the 24 day Texas state fair and will be headed that way by next week for sure. Then I will probably force the issue for 2011 and see about several others like Indiana which I heard is also pretty big. many fairs overlap the dates so they are impossible to be in 2 places at one time. I "heard" the Big E in Mass. is exceptional. Will keep you all posted!

i just come back from Colorado Springs and Pueblo, the Colorado State fair is up in attendance according to the news. but i do not go into the state fair and check them out. so i do not know how the vendors there are doing. the space are quite expensive for me as a beginner ( about $1300 - $1500 ) indoor or more for outdoor good location. at least $100/ft for width ft.
when you finish you Texas state fair, let us know how it goes with you?
