I am considering (?) Lathrop Days and just by the location, I can tell that it is not a money making event. Anybody done this one before. I picture a number of local tupperware, Mary Kay type of vendors there along with a poor, small group of people attending. In a real pickle that week as my other two choices are (B)ass (L)ake and (another) Italian Festival in Martinez. Give me your views on these 3 shows and I want somebody to do their best to convince me as to which show I should do. I am 50 percent Lathrop, 30 percent Bass Lake and 20 percent for Martinez.

My personal opinion..... I did Lone Pine (same promoter as Bass Lake) and I have done Bass Lake two times, one time last Thanksgiving and the next time was Father's Day weekend. If you do not mind first come, first serve spaces and just having customers that are going to the store, hotel, etc, and no advertising other than a sign on the road ...... then do Bass Lake, if you want something other than that..... then do one of the other shows.

Thanks Mark. I WILL NOT DO MARTINEZ. Dats fer shore!!! Where did you find out about that Laguna Seca show. A little ways, but I like it and no motel. I guess 85 miles? That's something I'd enjoy doing with my boy and I hope he has one of the two days off from work.
Will probably send in before the weekend. 70 percent chance for it, 15 percent for Lathrop (we know about shows over in that area) and now 0 percent for Martinez.
In a better economy, I'd chance Clovis Fest (I think it's that weekend), but expensive. We did it for several years, but sales went down and phased it out, not wanting to travel there. BTW that is where I have seen that Shammy guy that you see on TV. Haven't seen him in any events the past 2-3 years. I saw him in Monterey one time for one of their Seafood Festivals.

Yah. I noticed the part about not setting up on Saturday....weird isn't it? I'm somewhat okay with setting up on Friday. Would have to get there as early as possible so I don't get stuck in traffic Friday PM in Salinas and San Jose, etc. Actually. Bass Lake is still in the running. I probably noticed it in Craftmaster before, but it went over my head. If I decide to do Salinas, then I will have to send it in over the next couple days.
Have done two shows with the word 'Jubilee' in the name. Tried the Strawberry Jubilee in Wheatland which wasn't bad, but the next year, they too misplaced my application. The other Jubilee? I think that one was in Cupertino two years ago. The one that we ended up doing when we got shafted by that shady promoter.
Probably going to do it. I still keep picturing myself in Bass Lake and if I did that one, I still wuld have to decide as to whether I wanted to bring the motor home. If I bring the van I would get a better space. With the motor home, he sticks me off to the side because I have to unload/load the motor home. Really don't feel like zig-zagging my way over there either way.

Was looking for shows on the second weekend of October and came across the Candy Festival in Fairfield. I thought I heard somebody else around here mention that before. Anyway, the booth fee is $250 and up for ONE DAY. Wow. That area is poor to begn with. Heck......$250 is hundred dollars too much FOR A TWO-DAY SHOW. Come on now. Here's the application. Take a look at the fees. No #*$#$ way. www.fairfielddowntown.com/3events/0eventsvendors/assets/2009apps/09_0311vndrApp.pdf

Stay away from this show! It is for antiques.... not a place you or I want to be.

Thanks. Not going to see ME there. Really nice to be able to ask a question about a show and get an expert answer right away. Now, I can dwell on something else.

There is a Cruisin 99 Car Show here that weekend that I think will be good. I am already booked for another show but if I wasn't it would have been one I looked at. The deadline was September 1st but you never know. I believe a 10 x 10 is 100 and a 10 x 20 is 125. So not bad prices. I will warn you that it will be HOT! October 17th and 18th I will be at the Springville Apple Festival. We did it last year and had a great show! One word of caution if any of you are interested. It says all hand crafted..... no way! Many of the booths were all resale so I would not pay any attention to what that part says. Also, if you do this show, you do not want to be on the street, they can not close it down because it is the only street...... So picture vendors on both side of the street.... then cars going both directions.... or tying to go both directions. They had some people not paying attention and walking into vehicles trying to drive down the street. I made sure I had a place off the roadway, in the grass.

(the wife is sleeping right now) Might do it, I like the price, but we'll have to motel it, gas, etc. I have emailed my 'expert' on car shows and I'll see what he says about it. Good chance we'll be there. Don't want to pay $395 for a show (Riverbank) in the Modesto area. However, my total expenses for Bakersfield will be comparable to that unless I stay at Fling-Ding Motel.
