I have always said that I am as "creative as a rock", so I had to approach this venture with the notion of finding a product that would be appealing and not need any creative genes. A long-time friend in Sacramento, told me about Personalized Art and after some serious research, I agreed with her that it could be a very marketable item. Purchase some great art backgrounds, add in some text in the form of surnames, first name meanings, poems, etc, and you have a real people pleaser. Thus far, it has proven to be true, but if anyone would like to provide some information or advice about my choice of product, please do - I am all ears. abaworld, i am curious to know what kind of Peronalized Art you are selling? i am newbie to this kind of shows, only done a few! i am selling beads and making jewelries but i want like to add personalised items " which are beads related" i am also looking to sell iron-on rhinestone transfer for garment ( i think i can make personalised transfer if they want to pay for my time ) ?

My name I Michael C. Wier, in the early 80's I was a partner in FireMaster Kilns located in Sacramento, I wrote a 230 page Kiln repair manual, and loaded up the station wagon and hit the road, selling them at ceramic shows, 3 months and 2500 books later I was out of books but hooked on show business. I have spent the last 30 years on the road as a show vendor, from food to sand art, wooden toys, inflatables, midway games, rides an about any thing else you can think of. (I get bored easily)
4 years ago, I was diagnosed with stage 4 neck cancer, and thought I Would put my experiences down on paper and maybe leave, some helpful tips to others behind, and wrote book #2 Fair and Festival Vending 101 "30 years on the road". Well to every ones surprise I'm still here and still kickin, no sign of the cancer, in fact our first show in 3 years is this Saturday, and am working on book #3 "Americas favorite Fair Foods".
I found this site by accident, but am glad I did, it is a great site, I have seen none better, and I will do what I can to see it grow. I don't know it all but, I have a lot of experience, good and bad, and will be glad to help where and when I can. just ask.

I am about to start a new business selling women's activwear and am going to test the waters at East Bay flea market and Ohlone College flea market. Thank you,Dave, for this forum. Hi Barbara. Welcome to our Forum. Flea Markets can be tough to sell at because everybody is looking for something cheap. The best Flea Market in the Bay Area is DeAnza College in Cupertino and that is held the first Saturday of each month. You need to register early for that one and that begins on the first day after the previous month's flea market is over. The longer you wait on that one, the less chance you have at a desirable space. Usually they are sold out by the 15th of the month.
If you are searching for events (A&C, festivals, etc.) I would highly recommend subscribing to Craftmasternews.com which lists zillions of events.
You might be interested in some local events: Castro Valley Fall Festival (Sep), Hayward Zucchini Festival (Aug). Sales have really dwindled at a lot of events these past few years due to the economy.
You say that you are selling 'activewear' so I would believe that would mean clothing. I would suggest that you include complientary items also.

Hello, My name is Rick, me & my fiance Heather have been selling mostly on eBay for the past year full-time We came to find out that eBay likes to fee the crap out of sellers and cater to buyers every need and we got sick& tired of it so we discovered a great SwapMeet here in AZ called Phoenix Park n' Swap. We sold mostly electronics on eBay but we heard the market is really good for cellphone access. so we are trying this out tomorrow. Wish us good luck! Thanks, Rick & Heather "H & R Deals"

Welcome to the board, Rick, Not much action here anymore. This place is now a ghost town. Only things dropping by now are Yahoo, Google, the Russians, munchkins and aliens.

Hello all,
My name is Jeff Walker, and I'm from Massachusetts. I run a company called Unique Creations Embroidery.
I have a new product that I'm thinking about offering to flea market vendors as a drop shipped item.
We offer canvas prints of our customers photos, and can offer great prices that beat walmart prices. We just need vendors to work with us to help get the word out.
If you're interested, feel free to e-mail or call me at jwalker3773 at yahoo dot com or 413.433.0710
Thanks everyone! Jeff Walker

Hi - I live in Ontario, Canada. Since I love going to auctions and flea markets and have accumulated more things than I have room for, I've been thinking that it would be a good retirement project to set up some tables at a local flea market for the summer. Any advice would be wonderful!
