Almost always I give fellow vendors discounts. No problem with that. Someplace between 10-20 percent.
Most of the time I give automatic discounts to our senior citizens. If they look like they are over 60, I will mention that I am giving them a 'Senior Citizen' discount. I am not a good age guesser sometimes and if I see that they are around that age, I do not want to possibly offend them by mentioning the 'senior' part, so I will quote them my 'regular price' but then add 'but I'll give it to you for xxx dollars' (about 20 percent less). Or I'll just make up something like a 'cloudy day discount' or whatever to make them laugh and they get it cheaper than my usual price.
When I get a return customer from year's past, I usually knock off 10 percent for them for coming back to me.
Do you make trades with fellow vendors? Quite often when another vendor suggests a trade, I'll go along with it. In Madras, we traded some clothing for a pizza (not very tasty, though). I seldom initiate trades though but I am all ears when people approach me. My wife will do that sometimes.

Funny you should ask that, Paula.
Last night I printed some Starving Vendor Forum flyers to give out at the Charleston Seafood Festival and added a 60% discount for vendors.
I have a wheel that allows for a 20% to 50% discount for any purchase, so the 60% is just a bit better.
And, no, I'm not severely overpriced to allow for those kinds of discounts. Typical and suggested pricing is in the $9-$20 range (my advertised price is $10 but never sell for that), but it actually bothers me to sell for that much so I target $5-$7 and don't feel guilty, at all...

Yes almost always. I've had the show owners and their families come in and buy tons of stuff from me. It sure helps in this economy to bring in the money. In return I've been given huge corn dogs, beef brisket, sodas, family crests, baby blankets CHRSTMAS PRESENTS, etc. If I end up in a situation where I need "a gallon of milk" & they are headed to town, they will grab it for me without any fuss. I printed out post cards at Vista printing on line and with every sale I gave the customer a business card and a post card with coupons on it for a return trip.
