Hi. Perhaps you are just browsing through our forum and finding out what's happening with the shows. I know that you people have done the Art and Soul, Fairfield Tomato, etc. and I'll bet you would like to tell people about the show that you did this past weekend. Why don't you share your information with us. If you did poorly, tell us about it. If you did great, tell us how wonderful the event was. No need to give us your name, products, etc. Just tell us about it. After all. you are getting a lot of information here, so can you return the favor and give us some input? Tell a friend about the forum. Browse around a bit. I think it will be helpful to you. Membership is growing and I hope we can have one of the best forums around. We have people here from Northern and Southern California, Arizona etc. Bookmark and come back later. Always something good to read. Usually by Wednesday, people have added their comments about the previous week's shows.

I'm new to this site and I may or may not have a lot to say. I do 32 events a year and I'm a food concession. I've been a food vendor for 5 years and my opinion is that if the quality of your food has become the taste of institional food then it's time to step aside. If your a commercial booth and having trouble selling then it's time to update you merchandise. Retro is in but it's not in forever. If your having trouble selling more then one season then the problm isn't the people it's your product. As a food vendor we eliminate one or two things and we bring in something new each year. Don't complain about your sales do something about it. I'd have to wonder if the same person is complaining all the time about every event.

I have introduced a number of items that have beefed up my sales, but a lot of these shows have been quite slow, not matter what you are selling. I speak to a large number of vendors and I hear horror stories. Very hard for a lot of people to sell new products because that is what they make and that is where their talents lie.
I am commercial and have some hand-made items. It is difficult for a great many people to have consistently good shows. You are fortunate to be selling a product line called 'food' which everybody MUST buy in one form or another and are able to make adjustments in a week's notice. Nobody MUST buy anything else at these events and that is reflected in virtually everybody's sales. There are fairs and festivals that have carnival areas and that poses an even bigger problem for vendors since every little kid (or teen) wants to spend money on the rides or games. With the economy the way it has been, it's a tough sale.
Last but not least, welcome to the forum. Glad to have you here and hopefully you will contribute whenever you can. We do have a couple food vendors here. By the way, what do you sell and where are your shows?

I am busy making plans for the 2011 year events.....Hopefully I can make quite a few of them, we did a total of four in 2010....The Taste of San Joaquin in Stockton....the Benicia Peddlers Fair....then the Benicia Fine Arts and crafts, and finally the Hughson 21st century Club event.....we were successful at all of them, but not quite sure I will ever do another event in the late fall (Hughson) it was stormy and it was too cold.
