Since I am now home I have been checking the forecasts back in AZ. It LOOKS like rain today in Quartzsite. According to weather reports. More tomorrow. The Lake Havasu City WInterfest looks like rain.
Paula, where are you this weekend? Maybe rain in the Phoenix-Tucson areas tomorrow? Looks like an abnormally rainy winter this year. BTW how are the RV Park shows coming along for you?

I am so glad to hear that you are doing so well at the RV Parks. I am wondering how crowds of 300 people or so can support 30 vendors/artists. Kind of curious as to how the other sellers are making out. I guess your purses are a great product. Sew Sew Sew!!!
I am doing fine right now and will watch the Super Bowl later today. No rain here right now but it's coming. They had quite a bit of rain while I was gone and I can only recall a couple years with the El Nino thing where we got more than this. I do recall it raining 25 days straight one year and maybe 38 out of 40.
I don't know if I have seen it rain this much in Arizona for such a period of time. Once again, I am thrilled that you are able to find places to sell over there. Maybe you'll run into Genevieve someplace. Very nice person and quite energetic. I think that she should do okay selling her leather works at the parks.

Two reports out of Lake Havasu City - Both reported poor sales. One just made expenses, one did not cover expenses. Weather was bad on Saturday. Sunday weather was ok, but sales just were not there. Both friends said they were never doing that show again. Re: Parker, AZ - Very Very Poor sales, she did not cover expenses. Was a 2-day art & craft show. Report is bad weather Saturday, weather ok on Sunday - and Junk - Junk - Flea Market Junk - was all over this show. They said it looked like a yard sale gone bad - very bad. She talked with a couple of the junk dealers and they told her they had done this show for several years. Based on what they told me, I will not EVER be signing up for Parker, but someday I might give Lake Havaus a try, maybe, might, maybe, someday, maybe might :-) Paula Thank you, Paula. I did Havasu for 4-5 years; sales good the first two and declined after that. A lot of booths and a lot of people. However when I did it two years ago, the people just walked around like freekin' zombies. They just kept their heads straight and wouldn't even look at the goods. I love the show and the trip out there, but if you can't make a decent profit, then what's the use. You might want to try it if you keep your expenses down. Motels are cheap but the city and event are not RV-friendly. I have not heard too many good things about Parker. I've never done that event your friend was at, but I can picture it in my mind. I did a couple Parker Bluegrass Festivals a few year's back on trips to Las Vegas and the Ostrich Festival. Not really a buyer's crowd for that one. They had to cough up something like $28 to get in. About 30 booths. Loved the root beer (soda, slushes and floats) and got many refills ($1.00 each) but not a good show to sell at. Vendor's were just window decorations to make the show look better. Don't you just hate those kind of shows? Now, this particular event has re-located to Havasu because they jacked up the rent for the promoter, who had to be the only one making money out of this. I guess it was about two year's ago, I had plans on doing a couple events out there in conjunction with a trip to Las Vegas (trade shows). There is this church group that has perhaps 6-7 'Arts & Crafts Shows' in AZ and one of them was scheduled for Parker. I knew that it wouldn't be a great show, but when you are in an area for a certain period of time, it's nice to do events where you can just sit around and relax (in motor home) and make some money. Well anyway, they cancelled the event because they couldn't get enough vendors. Some people tell me that they do decently at the County Fair there in March (I believe) but I haven't done and never will try it. That's my experiences with Parker - except for dropping by the casino and getting their lunch buffet, which was not very good.

Hi people. I know that a lot of you have seen my photos of that eventful day last month when we had the tornado in Blythe and 71 mph winds in Tyson Wells. I have created a gallery of the pictures and are much easier to view. Have fun and always remember to WEIGH DOWN YOUR CANOPIES. However, my canopies WERE weighed down but they collapsed. No weights in the world could have stopped that. However, I think that if I had the grids freed of merchandise, they probably might not have collapsed the way they did. Images 1, 2 and 19 are my canopies. www.starvingvendors.com/tyson_wells_disaster.html
