Not much to say. Arrived about 5:30 since we drove from home that morning to save a nights motel. Was able to drive to our spot and unload... super nice about that, which was a nice surprise. Sunny all day with no rain but we did have wind... strong, cold, wind! Saw quite a few canopies that will never be used again. This is the first show I have ever done that I was honestly too cold to want to sell anything... selling would mean getting out from under the blanket I was covered up in, and was still freezing! As of Saturday night: Space fee $125.00, one night in a hotel $62.00, fuel and food... for a total of over $200.00, sales for Saturday $60.00... better have a good day today but not counting on it. My friend who is in the spot beside me, had the same show fee, 2 nights in a motel, fuel and food and sold $25.00 all day. Did not see many buying product from anyone... I am giving it until 1 o'clock today and if it is as windy as yesterday this girl is headed for home! Hope the rest of you had a better day than we did... I sure hope this is not the way this years shows are going to be......

uh ohhhh. Does not look good at all, Susie. You mean to tell me that you were actually able to drive on the 'grass'? Did you get to meet 'Bossin Baron'? Did you have a corner space? Do you see those parking spaces over there? That idiot tried to make me HAUL my stuff from there to my space about 40-50 feet away AROUND other booths. Both my wife and I were not feeling well that day. I told him to KMA and we left; he was very abusive. I wish you luck today; hope you can turn a profit. At one time people were moving up here left and right from LA buying new houses and a number of year's ago (before the thit hit the fan all over CA) , the home values dropped and people began losing their home's and jobs. Lancaster, unbelievingly, was a booming area. When I did the show three year's ago, there were 'for sale' signs all over the place.

Lancaster, unbelievingly, was a booming area. When I did the show three year's ago, there were 'for sale' signs all over the place. Yes, we drove on the grass and was able to stay there for as long as we wanted. As a matter of fact they walked on the grass to show us the spot while we drove. I have a feeling things have changed since we dealt with a "volunteer" who said if we had any problems to make sure a letter was written. Maybe they got a few letters in the past. Most of the booths are resale and community service groups along with ford, banks, the Y, Girl Scout cookie booth and other odds and ends. Only saw one house listed for sale in the area we were in but considering the way the California economy is, I am sure there are more. Many vendors I talked to are still looking for shows, always asking what are the good ones...... Honestly, I am not sure there are any good ones out there right now... guess time will tell. Well, at least it isn't all bad, spending time with hubby, also spending time with some friends, Del and Dora, who we adore. so those things are both good.. Might as well find that silver lining somewhere because I do not think it is going to be found at the show in Quartz Hill today! We need to find a central show and all sign up to do it... sales might not be good but we would have GREAT company! Susie

Ok... summary of Quartz Hill:
Saturday was cold and very windy ... sales $60.00 Sunday was sunny.... sales $3.00 Total Sales: $63.00 Space Rent: $125.00 Hotel one night : $62.00 Fuel: $30.00 Loss: $154.00 plus 2 days of our time
Would I go again? No..... Other vendors were saying the same thing I did. Very low sales, people were walking around like zombies... reminded me of Manteca. Portable restrooms were not cleaned and they were awful. The application said 5 or 6 food vendors and there was at least 12. One vendor said he was taking them to court... lots of unhappy people. As for us... we did something we have never done before, at 1:30 we packed up and came home. It was not worth anymore of my time to sit there.

Whoa. Sorry to hear you and the other's did so poorly there. This is not a good sign for the rest of us; especially for places like Casa de Fruta, Manteca and Los Banos.
I believe that over my last three days in Tyson Wells (A&C) I did around $60 total. It's rough when you sit there hour after hour with most of the people not even bothering to look. I don't think that anybody can sue them (Quartz Hill) over misrepresentation or whatever, but we can continue to put out the word on them. Trouble is that a lot of people read AND hear how bad an event is and they want to try it out for themselves. Trouble is that there aren't really very many other shows to choose from and they would rather do a really lousy event than stay at home, especially if it's going to be sunny and no rain.

On the way home we stopped for fast food and was talking to the woman at the counter. She said her hours have been cut from 40 hours a week to 12. She said the area has no money right now and people are just trying to survive. Then when I got home I had a email from the promoter of the show I am doing this next weekend and he said another vendor had told him that he had done a show in Southern Ca recently that he sold $20.00. These reports are really getting scary. Will talk to what vendors I can this next weekend and see what has been happening with them. At this point I am honestly expecting a repeat of what I just went through. I know I need to change my attitude... I'm trying!!!!
