I have done this show 3 of the last 4 years. It is pretty well the first venue that is offered in the East part of the state, and with free entry, many people are glad to get out and walk around. They have a tractor pull, truck pull, pony pull, Ms ND pageant, chili cook off, toy show, and concert to bring in different people. Many days you see the same people there just for the walk. The arena events are an additional fee, but it still draws people in. It is really hard to judge how bad the show is. By the time the show started, they had no spaces left to sell. (lots of last minute takers). I equaled in sales what I did in 2008, but I probably brought in 70% new, unique and tailored items for the show. (and a ton of items around $5.00!) I probably would have had a decrease of 20-30% otherwise. I have a good friend that sold one single stove for the whole show. He has been there 12+ years and he'd never seen it so bad. FWIW... I do have a space reserved for next year. Looks like hubby will run it while I'm in the AZ. area.

That is what I am working on now. It is painfully expensive to drive 2,000 miles to & from AZ without a singe stop for sales. I had hoped to do a few fair shows that end with the Texas State Fair, and after that it was a clear shot towards Az. but I am on a "waiting list".

Well the space that I thought I had reserved, well, the guy who filed bankruptcy and said he wouldn't be back... paid for his space and will be back, so I am seeing what other space I can get. I have 2 others in mind, but it is frustrating to play TAG with the person in charge to see what she has to say, or if she has heard something from anyone. Unfortunately we were supposed to have our fees in by Monday to get the 5% discount, and after the 15th the spaces open up for all. I will have to wait until Monday and see if the others didn't pay for their space and get it after then, at the non discounted rate. Nice, huh?!
