Hello, A new customer told me about this site. I am an agent for RLI and noticed that some of the memebers on this forum had some questions concering the Business Owners Policy (BOP). I am not trying to sell my product on this site, but wanted to give anyone the opportunity to ask me any questions about the policy and how it would cover them if they sold arts and crafts items at fairs or festivals. I cover folks that are selling at shows all over the country and can usually get a vendor started for around $200 for the year. If anyone has questions, please give me a call or I will respond right here on the discussion board. Thanks Christopher A. We offer the Liability Limits of $300K, $500k or $1M - the policy is rated off of your primary residential zip code as well. So depending on where you are located at in the country, along with what limits you choose, helps determine the cost. I have had people get away with roughly $140 for the year depending on those factors...
If you go to a show and they specifically want you to name them on the policy as ADDITIONAL INSURED - there is a $20 fee for that. Some shows need this, some do not. You may never have to do this but if you do it is not a problem but that fee does apply.
Assuming your limits do not change year to year, the premium would remain the same.
Thanks and please let me know if you need anything else.

i read most company need 1 million liability, never read about 300K liability insurance. most of them need us to put their name on if they need liability insurance. so $20 for the whole year for all the show host names. can you quote the premium for 1 million liability for a zip code of 91745 with the option of show host name added? If the show needs to be added as an additional insured - there is a $20 charge. This only applies when the show/event specifically uses the verbiage "additional insured" - if they say that they just need a certificate of insurance, there is no charge for that. Say you need to add an additional insured and you go to the same show/event numerous times throughout the year - the $20 charge only applies once.
In terms of giving you a quote, you can contact me directly or send me an email. I would be happy to go over the figues with you.

Chris Alexander 866-741-6560 chris.alexander@rlicorp.com Do you think that you can answer 'Suktexas' question regarding rates for her area so we all can have a rough idea of what it will cost. You stated that your rates begin at around $200 and I would like to see a number of individual rates posted here.

I ran a "test" quote in the 91745 zip code for $1M in General Liability and $5K in Business Personal Property Coverage - this was rated in the Crafts business class.
I came up with an annual premium of $250.

I came up with an annual premium of $250. Thank you for the 'sample' quote. Gives us a fair idea of your rates. Also, one must keep in mind the $20 fee for 'additional insured' as needed per show. You must definitely are in the same ballpark with the least expensive policies. Can a policyholder go to your website and submit information for designated events or do they have to call you? Thank you, Dave

A Vendor/Insured can go to the site and read about the program to determine if they qualify - they can then fill out a form to provide me with some information wich I can use to get in touch with them to run them through a quote and answer any specifics that they might have.

Water damage is usually never covered by the policy - if rain damages your business property, the majority of the time there will not be coverage for this. If you secure your tent and wind damages the tent or the tent damages someone else's property, the coverage should apply in this case.
It is hard to say that something will or will not be covered unless we have all of the elements surrounding the claim.
In terms of a quote, please contact me directly because there are other facotrs other than the limits that go into a quote. I want to give you the most accurate information possible.

before i want to think about buying insurance i would like to know if the business products or personal products are covered by threft. i do not want to look possibility of buying insurance if the merchandised is not covered theft. if they are a vendors of Quartzsite in sell-a-rama, everyone know a lot of vendors have damaged by heavy wind this Jan. there is no way to secured the tent. my tent is secured, it does not fly away but it break, it is 100% brand new and secured by a professional tent builder and my merchandises get wet and fly away before the tent broke. if the insurance is not covered then what is insurance for. Water damage is usually never covered by the policy - if rain damages your business property, the majority of the time there will not be coverage for this. dave, i want to clarify one more thing, the $20 additional insurance is per show? so, if you have 20 shows in a year, then it is $400 more? that is a lot of money! suktexas I ran a "test" quote in the 91745 zip code for $1M in General Liability and $5K in Business Personal Property Coverage - this was rated in the Crafts business class.
