I've been waiting quite a while to try this festival. They say about 100,000 attendance over 5 days, but the promoters are up to charging $600-$650 per 10x10 now, which is way too much for me. Every year it goes up about $25-$50. Since I don't take up much space, a friend of mine "rented" me a small spot next to his trailer (he does sign carving out of it). There were 3 other cartoonists drawing, and with me made 4. I tried Wed. night and Thurs. night to see how things would go, but it was too slow and not enough business to go around, so I blew town Fri. morning. Started to get really hot in Vegas around this time. Mostly carnival rides and booths with games at this festival. Also tons of various food booths. Not many arts & crafts. I thought there would be more. Vendors say this festival has suffered since it moved from downtown (somewhere on Flamingo was it?) to the parking lot at Silverton Casino. Apparently, someone bought the property on Flamingo and the festival had to move a few years ago. I lucked out as I was able to get a spot at Eckerstrom's Mother's Day show in Alameda this weekend. I drove back all day Friday, and went to Alameda on Sat. & Sun. Will post on that show later.
