What are some of the worst weather conditions that you have ever had to endure at a show, i.e. flooding, rain, snow, winds, heat, cold, etc.

This was supposed to be a nice weekend for us. I had checked the temps up there 9-10 days in advance and they were saying sunny with temps around 75. Doesn't that sound nice. Well, as the days passed, I kept checking the forecast and saw it getting cooler and clouding up, etc. This was one of Staniford's Millers'Y shows. I had wanted to do it for years, but with the motel, gas, etc., I knew it would be expensive. People told me that it was a good show. The show ran from May 23-26 (Fri-Mon). When we were a couple miles from the area, it began to snow. We had been at 8,000 feet elevation just 15-20 minutes before and no sign of it. We arrived there and it snowed hard for about 10 minutes and then stopped. It was cold. It was windy. We set up our booth and gladly retreated to our motel. Over the next several days we had to endure more snow...just a little accumulation in the morning, rain, wind and cold. My wife got sick; I had some kind of virus on Friday. We froze in that booth even though we were able to avoid the full force of the wind. I had two pairs of pants on; two shirts a sweater and a heavy coat. This is the end of May, people. They told me that it could snow up there any day of the year. You can read the complete story about that weekend here: www.starvingvendors.com/tales_of_woe_south_lake_tahoe.html

Chandler Ostrich Festival 2006 Chandler, AZ. For a couple years, we did a trip there to do the festival along with a stopover in Las Vegas for the Trade Shows. We arrived on Thursday and set up our stuff. On Friday evening, it began to rain and did not stop until Sunday morning around 3-4:00AM. They had 145 days with no rain and it picked that weekend to come down. Wow. Please read the whole story here....quite a nightmare. A complete washout. Wasco Rose Festival 2008. It was 109 degrees there and no one selling beverages. Good thing we always bring a ice chest. By the way the weather was hot but I sold 1500.00 in one day so I can suffer for that kind of one day show sales.

Now for the first time anywhere, you can view pictures from the flooding at the 2006 Chandler Ostrich Festival. I have a habit of being in the wrong place at the wrong time. I wish I had taken pictures of the muddy parking lot. Keep in mind that these photos were taken at least 4-6 hours AFTER the rains had stopped and the waters had receded. I tried to look for water lines on the canopies but apparently the water wasn't dirty enough to make indentations on the white covers of the canopies. Believe me, it was much higher at 6:00am on Sunday morning. It rained from around 11:00pm all the way through Saturday and into Sunday morning. Had to push the water off the top of my canopy many times as I sloshed through the waters on Saturay. They had a drought for 145 days in the Phoenix area and it all let loose. www.starvingvendors.com/chandler_flood_2006.html

The Big RV show in 2008 when the Big Tent came down. The vendors in side were trying to gettheir things out and the promoters wife was on the loud speaker saying EVERYONE OUT OF THE TENT. DON'T GO BACK INSIDE. DO NOT RE- ENTER. Every vendor was piled at the opening trying to load their stuff which blocked us from getting out of there. It was utter pandamonium! 2009 Tyson wells it started to rain and it looked like the picture I see above. A solid river. Then the wind started up and the stakes started to pull loose from the soggy ground. We got through it, but what a goopy mess! Tried to load a picture without succeess, darn it!!
