Please place your reviews for shows in Nevada during the week of Aug 22-23. Provide a new thread for each week's shows.

Any one done a Williams show? $400 plus 10% and Nevada sales tax? Seems like a tough nut to crack

I did my first Williams show last year for the Rib Cook off in Sept.. The attendance of this show was astonishing to me coming from Northern California. Because the show starts on Wed., some days can be slow. But look out on Sat and Sun. Wholey moley. There were 2 of us working in my booth and we should have had 5. We had some SERIOUS problems working with the event promoter. Won't go into detail, but they are not honest people. Worst part is that they know they have you by the neck because this is a great show where people come to spend money. Booth rent is not bad for a 6 day show. Giving the extra 10% is really tough for my particular business as I only make a small commission off of my sales. I will be returning for 2010 and praying we don't run into trouble with them again.

I want to know more about the williams shows too. I see they have switched to another casino... has anyone done the casino shows? I'm sure it has to do with the weekend and what you sell, but I'm curious. (also curious about your troubles, cottage.) Seems expensive if the people aren't going to shop.
It's a bit of a haul for me, but my first baby niece was just born in Reno and I plan on trying these shows some time this summer.

I'd be interested in hearing about your WIlliams issues too. I think WIlliams is beautiful, and have stayed at the "million dollar RV park" where the old steam train takes you to the grand Canyon. THOUGH... The cost is 40.00+ a night, (They did take a camp club USA 50% off for 1 day) and it gets pretty cold. The altitude made it easy to snow and our water hose and tank froze solid from the wind we encountered. (that was April ish..)

I think the Williams they are talking about is the promoter, not the town. Susie
