What things do you look at when you are looking at shows to book? I know one of my main things is, I do not want a carnival. My experience with these shows is, the people spend the money at the carnival and on food and do not buy from the vendors. Free camping is also a plus for me. I also like a show that has been around for a few years. I do not pay any attention to the attendance that is reported... those numbers usually tend to be counted by a person that says 100, 200, 300... instead of 1,2,3! Any one else?

Paula, Thanks..... one thing I forgot is I look at the space size. If it is a "table" or less than a 10 x 10 I am not interested. I have seen some that the size is 8 x 8, which means for my canopy to fit I would have to rent two spaces.

What do I look for in a show? Number of years it has been promoted, number of vendors, statistics, if they have them. Proportion of the customers that might be interested in the stuff I sell. Prior years turn out. Other events that might bring customers into the gate. (like a tractor show, beauty pagent, Chili cook off, free day...) My cost to get there, set up, sell, LIVE, get home, restock the items I sold. Also, I am setting up a web site for on line sales. If I do a show that is near my seasonal campground, what potential sales can I make for the future. How many days is sort of a big one for me. My items are quite heavy and hard to move. If I sold at a street fair for 3 hours, it would take me 6 hours to set up and take down. (NOW, If I made a few grand, I'd be inclined to torture myself for a day. Most of the time, the vendors state they made a few hundred dollars only.) Not all are a huge issue. Just a few thoughts when I scout out a show.
