Sorry Paula. I can't help you on this one. There are numerous Strawberry Festivals in California but I don't know much about that one. There also is the Arroyo Grande Strawberry Festival which is pretty good, but high overhead for me. Watsonville has one and I don't think that the area has very much money.
Of course, there is the Roseville (New) Strawberry Festival and that, using the best one-word descriptions, sucks.

Paula, I have a few friends that do that show and say it is wonderful. The show does fill up fast and yes, there are LARGE crowds there. I live about 2 hours away from it but am always busy the weekend they have it so I have never attended. If it is one you are thinking of you might want to check reservations at the LaQuinta in Vaentura, seems like the prices are way down at the LaQuintas for some reason. I am doing a one day show in Oxnard the 12th of December and I booked LaQuinta in Ventura for $44.10 a night..... not bad at all. As I said, all I have ever heard about the show is good things and I do know for a fact that the strawberrys that are grown there are wonderful......

Thank you, Dave & Susie. I've put this one into the "seriously thinking about it" file. Any other good May, June, July and August events in Southern CA that you know about? Paula I have heard that HIllside Farms in Norco is a great show. They do three a year, Thanksgiving weekend, the weekend after Thanksgiving and Mothers Day wekend. I am doing the show the first weekend in December so I can tell you more then. I have talked to many crafters and have not heard one negative thing about it. They all said they loved it and it is the one show that they know of that is ALL handcrafted or they do make you pack up and leave. I will post more as my brain starts to function.. three hours of sleep a night is getting old but I have so much I have to get made for the shows I have booked for the next three weeks... I am sure you know how that is! Susie

One example I was told about. The show is listed as a hand crafted only... A man sent photos, said he made the items and was accepted. When he got there they went out and he was unpacking his "imports", they were marked as made in another county and was in boxes marked "made in China", he was told to leave the show. The show is on private property and I guess the owners really stand behind the "hand crafted only".

I did the Arroyo Grande Strawberry Festival this year, and it was pretty good. It was my first time doing a southern Ca. show, and I upped my prices by a couple dollars each and they still bought. Really nice old town area and nice people. I'll probably go back next year. There is the Garden Grove Strawberry Festival on Memorial Day weekend (I think) next year, and I hope to do that one. They claim to draw 300-400,000 att.

Just recalled the Galt Strawberry Festival. Haven't hear much about it but it stands to reason that no show can be very good here due to the Wholesale and Retail Markets on Tue/Wed here.
I concur with Nito about Arroyo Grande. Very nice festival and I have done decently in the past. Booths up on the main street do best. I have heard that you don't have to tear down anymore on Saturday there. They claim over 100,000 for that event and that is a fact. People all over the place. Really nice area. Pismo Beach just a few miles down Grand. Also Grover Beach, where I did the Stone Soup Festival which is not recommended.
Motels are not cheap in this area, but I stayed at the Vagabond over in SLO for $72.00 per night. The Central Coast is a nice area from Morro Bay down to Pismo.

When I was in college I worked for a kids activity booth at the oxnard strawberry festival. It's huge, tons of people. To my memory, in line with the numbers at Gilroy Garlic. And it was hot. But I have no idea how the craft vendors did...
