On Saturday, I was approached by a charming and lovely lady of Thai origin who is a local nurse. She explained to me that she has a friend over in Santa Ana who owns a restaurant and is interested in selling her food at events. This other lady speaks very little English so I have to correspond to her through the lady I met.
She knows absolutely nothing about selling food at events and wishes to sell Thai Food. I am hoping to connect with one of our food vendors who can share some information about setting up a booth as to what kind of cookers, fryer's, etc would be needed. I was hoping to find somebody here who is selling Thai or Chinese food and can help this lady along. I know that it's tough to begin selling food because competition is fierce and all the best shows have their regular food vendors. Is there anybody out here who can provide their two cents worth? There's a lot of things you need to do to get started. Recommendations?

I'm not a food vendor but I do know her best thing to start with is her Health Department. Each county has different rules for the food vendors (with Kern County being very strict from what I hear). That is the place that is going to be able to answer her questions about what type of facility, hand washing sinks, etc. that are required. I do know that they have to pay a fee for each event and that they do come out and inspect them while they are there.
