Hi people. Been noticing that we have been getting around 55-60 guests each day during the early part of the week. Obviously, people are checking up on what we have to say about our weekend shows.
I have noticed that we are getting a large amount of visitors from Europe. I am really trying to figure out how they are getting to this forum and wondering what searches are bringing them here. I would like to recommend to all posters to pay attention to what is on the subject line when you are submitting. If you are telling about an event, please name the event in the subject line. This will make it easier for the search engines to find us when it is looking for a particular event or other information.
Of course, we all would appreciate more participation from our reader's. Would like to hear about some of the other shows that people are doing during any given week. It doesn't take long to do this. There are also quite a number of 'members' who do not sign in when viewing the forum and it would be nice if they posted also.

I'm here, Dave. But I don't have anymore shows this year. The ones I have done in 2010 have been so bad, sales wise, I don't know if I will sign up for shows in 2011. I'm tired of all the work, and not enough return to make any money. Starving Vendors will still be one of my favorite online sites! Laura

I am so sorry to hear about your shows and I can honestly tell you that I feel pretty much the same. It's depressing to pound away at these shows week after week with so little in return. My show this past weekemd was baaaa-rutal and we froze our butts off in the morning (Morro Bay). Lost money and it was only a $90 booth fee; had to pay for the motel and gas. I had a couple other shows - Yuba City (140 miles) two day show; motels, gas, etc. and only sold around $40. Had another show in San Jose with about $30 in sales. From bad to worse to terrible. I have packed it in for the year also and will start my shows next year between the end of January and April. Considering doing some in Arizona that are not named 'Tyson Wells' but it seems unlikely. I would not recommend throwing in the towel just yet, but take a rest and be careful with the shows that you choose while trying to cut down expenses. One thing about all (almost all) of us vendors is that we get knocked down so many times, but we come up fighting. We never give up. Some of us have to 'reinvent' ourselves and retool (ME) and hopefully this economy will pick up. I have seen a lot of bad attitudes by the showgoers as they absolutely refuse to buy anything and just go through the motions when they walk around the festivals. Unfortunately, things have not improved these past few months and it has gotten worse. I think that we all are pretty disgusted with these shows right now and I am confident that things will improve by the time the Easter bunny dances on the streets.

I'm here too, Dave. I checked several times last week, but no posting, so I figured that everyone was enjoying their Turkey and Pumpkin Pie! I am done for the season as well. I had considered going to Tyson Wells, or anywhere warmer than ND, but I just question the economy of Ca, Az, NV. If someone is renting a house because they lost theirs, they wont buy signs to decorate the rental, Most places wont let you put holes in the walls! Why should I run down to Quartzsite and spend over $1,800 in rent so I can struggle to try to make it back, and basically you only make it back in 10 days when the big show is going on. I think many people are watching that the tax cut is going to sunset in December and it will mean even less money to survive on, and a huge chunk less on their Tax return. I didn't do too bad on most of the shows I went to this last year, (Mainly all in the North, where the oil drilling is going on!) but many a vendor exclaimed that they had NEVER seen it that slow in their life. Being I had never been, who knows what I "should have" done. I think we are all scratching our heads and trying to figure out what the heck do we want to try in 2011!

They want their money/deposit/payment now. A few invitations as well. Makes me wonder if the only reason they are inviting me, is the others have abandoned ship and MADE the openings. I hope that your 2011 is better than this one!!!

I have been sad to hear so many of you say your show sales are down from past years... and I've heard the same from many of my RL show friends.
For me, the year went well. Don't ask me why. Most of my shows were at or above last year's sales... last year was my bad year, with many of my shows down by 1/2. I feel like this year the money is coming back, people were more apt to buy multiples I noticed.
I do see many of you do shows in the valley, where personally I have never done well. It seems to me, the people are always broke and grumpy. I try to stay in touristy areas where I figure folks with cash will go for fun, the coastal towns have been pretty good overall for me.
I feel optimistic for next year, I really do think it's coming back up for us.

Might be because I haven't been there and and not the same old thing they see. (Not to say that there aren't others selling my exact same line, just lucked out and they haven't been to THESE shows.)
