Looks like I am heading a couple hundred miles to Cambria. Did poorly there twice this year so far, so why do I think that this will be any different. Why? Why? Why?
You know, sometimes I'll tell people that I am doing a show that I think is pretty bad and they will ask me 'why do I do it then?" I don't know. Can't imagine staying home wondering.
Last year we went down to San Juan Bautista for the Chicken Festival and that was a doozie. I think that they have cancelled this event.

LoL Dave... whyyyy?? haha. I hear you, something is better than nothing (most of the time anyway).
I'm doing my usual North Country Fair on the plaza in Arcata. This is our biggest juried local fair run by artists. 3 stages, free admission, HSU is back in session and folks come out to buy stuff. This is my 10th year doing it, I finally got myself a corner booth (you can't just buy one) and now it's mine FOREVER! Muahahaha!
I'm just happy to be doing local shows. This will be one of my last for the year.

I am in the middle of a real doozie here in Cambria. Read all about it on Monday. Not going to make expenses. Might be my worst weekend that I have ever had here in Cambria. Where's the people. Maybe 300-400 people and a load of new vendors here.

Sorry it was a crummy show for you, Dave. I had a one day show yesterday, the Lafayette Art & Wine Festival, it was a stinker for me, as well. I was there to set up a few mins. before 8 and left a few mins. before 7 pm, and only sold 2 pairs of earrings all day. Damn! Laura

I guess we can call this one a doozie. Sorry Mike. This was pretty bad. Extremely small crowds. Only 18 vendors as opposed to a usual compliment of 25-35 booths. Cloudy all day Saturday and sunny on Sunday until 3:00pm. This one is hard to swallow after coming off of two decent weekends. Had to travel 200 miles each way. Yuck. Here's what I have to say: www.starvingvendors.com/Events_Cambria_Arts_and_Crafts_Fair_Sept_2010.html

I did my usual North Country Fair in Arcata, just the next town over from me... my 10th year there and it's always awesome.
Except this year, it rained and rained. :-(
Everyone was talking about how it NEVER rains for this event, over 37 yrs nobody can remember it raining. Ha! I guess the odds were against us. It poured the first day, some folks where there part of the day partying in the rain... but after 2-3pm it rained harder and harder and everyone left. By the end of that day all we could do was laugh, poking sheets of water out of the tent every 10 minutes.
Sunday it only rained in the morning and the day was warm and cloudy. Still, not many folks came out... but at least we could enjoy the day a bit more and air out the wet clothing. We had a view of the stage and a few friends brought me beers. Not so horrible.
In the end I did half of what I normally do at this show. I had really stocked up too, trying to make some killer sales this time around. Blah. And I paid someone to help me. Oh well...
