Several of us will be trekking on down to Taft to take part in their Oilderado Days, which is held every four years. Now, I am sure that you are asking "Just where in the hell is Taft?" That's what I said when I first heard of it. Don't know what we will find down there and honestly, where are the people going to be coming from? B-field? Lost Angeles? This place is around 35 miles west of Buttonwillow-Highway 58 exit. I am certain a lot of us have driven through here on Highway 5 but I have never ventured over into the Taft area. Really nothing much else going on over that weekend so I think they might have quite a few vendors there. Just hope there is $$$ floating around. I have already exceded my quota of doozies for this year.

This might be a rainy weekend. Beware. I certainly hope not. Looks like it might be widespread and not just local showers. Let's keep our toes and fingers crossed. You know the way these 10-day forecasts are. Can't take them seriously but we need to keep this in mind.

Was in Taft for Oilderado Days. I didn't do bad but certainly not very good. Motel and gas expenses were the killers. Booth fees were $100 and the spaces were 15x15 and we could park behind which was really nice. I don't think that many vendors did any good and I lucked out with my 5-8-10 dollar items. I think that the main problem is that this event is spread out over two weekends and the 'excitement' kind of wears off for the people and they run out of money (if they have any). They had vendors here last weekend and I heard that they did much better than what most of us did this weekend. They also had a car show then along with some big rig tractors and these people are into that stuff. Show is held ever five years, so mark your calendars people. And now for my weekly review. Enjoy. www.starvingvendors.com/events_Taft_Oilderado_Days_2010.html

It appears that this Small little town who's main employment is oil Workers .....has not much money to spend i was talking to one guy and he was saying it cost alot to live in Taft a 2 bedroom apartment was $725 i laughed and said try at least 2 times as much where i live. The promoters never showed there faces .........all i can say is you will not see me here again .
