The only bad one that I did was the San Anselmo show. And that was because the gay pride fest in SF was the same weekend. People said that last year, it was packed in San Anselmo. This year: A ghost town. All their other shows were pretty good. The Alameda Mother's Day show was the best.

I applied for one of his shows last year and got rejected, so I don't know if they are any good. Laura

In 1996 I applied for their Dublin St Patrick's Day Festival here in the Bay Area about two month's before the event. When it got down to the Wednesday before and I hadn't heard from them, I called them up. They told me that I had been rejected and they put me in their file. Wow. I was pissed. Too late to get into another show. Yes, I did go down there and give them hell about it. Never applied for one of their events again. I'm not going to forget about those idiots.

Mark - Bummer city! Yes, there are always too many jewelry peeps at shows. Too bad that's what we do, right?! Have you ever done the Fillmore Jazz Festival? I live close to it, but never applied, as every other booth seems to be jewelry. Laura

This isn't about Eckerstroms, just a comment in general. It is angerng that some promoters think that we have nothing better to do with our time than to beg them for a space, and then they keep you in suspense until they see if they have a last second cancellation. I am getting my fill of these, "Thank you for your application, we'll let you now if you fit our criteria" mailers!!!

We had a death in the family (father/grandfather) and had to cancel a week before the show opened. At the time they were full and not accepting new applicants (so we assume, finding a replacement would be fairly easy). Not only did they not issue any full or even partial refund, but their message in response came only after we'd tried over a handful of times to get in touch with them. They were heartless in their response. We will NEVER do any shows with this group again.

I had a bad experience with them 15 years ago and I have never done one of their shows. I sent in my application for a St. Patrick's Day Celebration of theirs back in 1995 (wow) about two months before. I hadn't heard from them until 2 days before the event. I called them up and asked for the status (I thought I was in). They told me that they 'filed' my application as I was put on their waiting list. Since then, screw them. Anyhow, I heard the show (Alameda) was somewhat okay for a number of vendors. Good crowds on Sat; much fewer people on Sunday. I stayed home this past weekend. Thank you for posting and I hope to see you frequent this board and tell us about things. Your comments are well-appreciated. My deepest sympathies go out to you and your family. I wish you success in the shows you do. Take care.

Eckerstrom Shows are always well run and successful. If you follow the rules, read your application, and don't expect "special treatment" you will do fine. The staff that has been in place the last 10 years does a good job from my experience with them. It is amusing to hear that people "assume" they are in because they have not heard back. That sounds stupid to me, that you would not have called or checked your bank to see if the check was cashed. Have you considered how much paper they have to deal with compared to you? I have had apps get lost in the mail as well. Their application says to call if you have not heard back in one month.

That was 16 years ago. All I can say is that they did not do their job. I am not impressed. Anway, I was so young and naive back then.
