I have already paid for the show and reserved an RV space. I know you can park at the show free but I want the swimming pool and internet. I know it is going to be hot but what the heck, it might be a wonderful show......

It might be beautiful but it is not a place for a craft show. No customers... went in the hole big time.. I will not go back, even if it was a free show.

I think I will squeeze in my 'welcome to the board' greeting here. Thank you for your informative posts. Keep up the good work. I did not do Lone Pine, but Susie is absolutely correct. Beautiful, magnificent area with breathtaking scenery. Not a place for a craft show. I would rule this one out because of those scorching temperatures right off the bat. August? No way, Jose. If it were a profitable event, I would love taking my motor home out there, but the event is not a stopover for the tourists and the price of gas is repulsive. I have been to the area many times but is just so far to go for many of us. BTW, from what I was told, I do believe that at least half the vendor's left by the end of Saturday in last August's show. Uh uh uh. Why travel 400-500 to a crappy show when I only have to go 50-60 miles for a real 'winner'. Know what I mean? Whoops....... I was 675 miles from home that weekend during the 4th event of our Oregon tourstop - Tillamook County Fair. Rough. Had lots of showers.

thanks for the welcome, Dave. I'm not a long timer, per se, but Kee my eyes open and always looking to avoid pot holes! Ya. August in Lone Pine. I understand. Especially in this economy. A couple bad shows can sink a small time outfit! We used to take vacations up there in July, and we made a bee line to Owens River up in the Sierras to get cool. 1 stop to the K mart and Safeway in Bishop and off we go! You would think that a group of people that live in that small area would flock to a show like this. Anything to bring in new blood, and new stuff into the community. Guess the term "Small towned" fits here as well. Thanks for the insite! I might have been coaxed there with thoughts of the good times we had in the past.

Another thing or two about Lone Pine..... No advertising by the promoter did not help at all..... it was hot....... the customers that did stop were going to Carls Jr or walking the dogs... and the one thing I was asked by most of the "lookers" was Who is putting this show on and for what cause? I think they are use to the Film Festival and they like the fact that the money was going to a non profit..... Did I mention no advertising? Lone Pine is a stop over for the travelers... hotels are expensive and the people that do stay there are there to site see not go to a craft show...... Also, did I mention no advertising? As you can probably tell..... the promoter DOES NOT advertise.......
