Here's a major event that was cancelled. www.sacbee.com/breaking/story/1896168.html This year the Chamber of Commerce, which hosts the festival, had problems finding vendors for the event, Pope said. He said the event costs about $100,000 upfront to put on.please read the article above. Problems finding vendors? Hmmmm. You know, this is a rowdy festival and has a lot of drinking, etc. and I would suppose that the vendors were taking a beating (in another way). There will probably be more festivals biting the dust. I just posted this because this pertains to them not being able to get vendors, which is of interest to all of us and I am sure all of us love hearing that. I wish some of these promoters would lower their fees. If their shows are filling up quickly, then they always raise booth fees. I know a lot of us are holding onto our cash and waiting as long as possible to submit. I've run across shows that advertised late fees, but I didn't pay the extra money. I think that we. as vendors, could withold our payments for shows as long as possible and maybe, somehow can make a promoter or two sweat. But then again, some of the worst promoters get full houses for their lousy shows. Go figure.
